Testimonials

From EWP Manufactures

... In my opinion, the value of the revolutionary way of building floors is mainly in the savings achieved by the builders and the superior floor performance that no other type of engineered or conventional bridging and blocking system can offer. ...

Tony Said, P. Eng. Regional Sales Manager, Nordic Engineered Wood

... I highly recommend IBS 2000 Connectors for all my floor systems. The product performs as per design... I stake my reputation on it!

From IBS Distributors

... Recently we were able to engineer a very large job using our 16" product and one row of IBS 2000® (about 400 pcs). The floor would pass under the L/360 code but was far from desirable as far as performance goes. Since we have the software and could show the builder the increased performance using IBS 2000® we were able to offer a better floor system than the competition. ... We were actually lower in cost than the competition and had a better performing floor. This is just one of countless opportunities the IBS 2000 has afforded us.

Shawn W. Christensen, Engineered Manager, Holbrook Lumber, Albany, NY.

FYI, the joist that you and I discussed a couple of months ago (33'span) and you suggested the IBS blocking. The joist are installed and I was on the job Monday. The floor has 1.5" lightweight concrete etc., is not even finished (just framed) but I was amazed at how solid the floor "felt". I was in the middle of the longest span with a couple of other guys and literally jumped up and down and it felt like I was jumping on slab floor.

Sustainability

...When I was building my house the contractor called to advise me that the 16 foot 2 x 10s I had could not be used as code allowed a maximum span of 15' 10". So I had a couple of lifts of wood to deal with. My choices were to go to 2 x 10s on a 12" centre or go with 2 x 12s on a 16" centre. Both of which would require purchasing additional or completely new wood -- an expense I was reluctant to incur. When I got off the phone, a fellow I worked with had passed me an information sheet on the IBS 2000 Cross bracing. When I checked with my engineer, the building inspector and the contractor, we decided that these were THE solution. The product was there the next day, saved me a fair chunk of money, went in easily (the contractor loved them) and, best of all, gives me a great floor.

John, when I present to architects and engineers I point out the environmental benefits of engineered cross-bracing bracing. It conserves wood by reducing the volume needed for a secure floor, either in depth or joist spacing (as in my case) as well as demonstrates how short pieces of lumber and off cuts of plywood can be used in a high performing product rather than burned or chipped. In addition, they save time and money in labour, use a non-off-gassing glue and are mechanically reinforced and incredibly stable. They are much easier and more dependable than stick-built cross-bracing. So, good on you for developing them.

From Builders

I am writing to you in regards to the Luxor IBS 2000 product supplied by yourselves to my company. I am impressed and delighted by this product's performance as well as the ease with which it is assembled. It has increased the stability of the floor system and we are now using it in all of our projects.

We would not hesitate to recommend this product to any other potential buyer.

Adrian Iannucci, Marquee Estates, Brampton, Ont.

I am a custom builder in the San Francisco Bay area. Over the years we have been continuously fighting "Bounce" in I-Joist type floor systems. Building in the upper-end custom market, our clients will not accept what seems to be the Industry Standard for allowable bounce. ... The installation was easy, and I am amazed at the difference it made, it actually feels much more like a concrete slab than a raised wood floor.

Jim Wood, President, R&J Construction, Inc. Walnut Creek, CA

Just a quick note to thank you for your help and advice on our project #353. The IBS 2000's really did the trick. Hopefully, you know by now that we have re-engineered the next 5000 sq. ft. project to include your system. ... You have an excellent product, and you can use our projects to show the results anytime.

Mike Dobranski, President, Edgewater Homes, Portland, OR.

Parkview Homes has had the opportunity of using the IBS 2000 Floor System in our homes during the past season.

It is with pleasure that I recommend this product to other builders. The IBS 2000 System is unequalled in quality compared to more traditional methods of installing floor bridging.

Paul Dietrich, President, Parkview Homes, Peterborough, Ontario.

From Retail Dealers

... We have been a dealer for the past three years. Each year, our IBS 2000 sales increase. We have new builders using the product and are also supplying our established builders. Our main market is the subdivision builder within the greater Toronto area.

Our builders like the product. They comment on how solid the floor feels once the IBS 2000 has been installed.

Peel lumber is proud to be a stocking dealer. The IBS 2000® is an integral part of our product line.

Jamie Furgiuele, Operations Manager

Rarely in this business are we able to announce a genuine new product. Most products today are improved, redesigned or redressed...but not new. This is not so with IBS 2000®.

... Our response to your product has been to say the least, overwhelming. Not only has every builder we have shown the product to been excited about the IBS 2000, some have shown great interest in an investment into your company. ... In closing, I am convinced that in two years or less not a home of quality will be built in this market that does not contain IBS 2000.

Contractor Yard, Frederick, MD

From Homeowners

... While designing our garage, we requested the IBS 2000 system be used with the I-Joists for our second floor. It is completely open area of 25' x 30' used for woodworking. Even with all the machinery and tools upstairs, there is no "bounce" at all in the floor.

We plan to build a retirement home and shop in the future and the IBS 20000 system will be a definite part of our designs. We think anyone who wants a good, solid building should insist that this system be used.

Thomas Cannon, Pennsylvania

... I have extensive background in the construction field, including a degree in construction technology and work experience as a structural steel estimator and residential contractor. I believe this system works very well because it ties the joists together to act as one whole system – something conventional bridging lacks.

We were very pleased with the results achieved by using this new bridging system and would recommend it to anyone.

Jeffrey Hertik, New York

From Architects

... I decided to clear span the 18x24 family room. Based on the recommendation of Matrix Timber, Ltd., I specified 2x10's, Douglas Fir, spaced 16" o.c. with IBS 2000 bridging at third points. With a clear span of 17 feet, four inches, I expected a pronounced deflection and bounce.

The on site inspection proved my fears to be unfounded. Not only was the deflection minimal, the bounce was nonexistent. The bridging integrated the joists into full diaphragm, that dampened the spring.

My conclusion in two fold: First, the increased span capability of the system should sow cost savings after the framing crew passes the initial learning curve. The second, and most important, is the vast improvement in performance. The comfort level that my clients will feel, puts the IBS 2000 System at the tip of my must satisfy list.

Richard K. Merrell, AIA , Waterbury, CT.

IBS 2000 has been, and will continue to be a valuable tool for helping us to achieve longer joist spans necessary for today's open concept residential designs while maintaining economical construction.
